This series contains various types of correspondence issued by the Adjutant General of the Dept. of Military Affairs, and it predecessor, the Military Dept. from 1960 to 1984. The earliest rolls contain primarily memoranda from the Adjutant General, while the later rolls include a variety of materials issued by the department, including: logistics and information bulletins, vacancy announcements, copies of Florida Guardsman magazine, safety bulletins, and various other circulars, pamphlets, and newsletters. The materials cover a wide variety of topics, including administrative, personnel, training, and logistical matters pertaining to the Florida National Guard.

The Florida National Guard was established in 1909 (Ch. 5930, Laws) replacing the Florida State Troops. From 1921 until 1973, the Guard was placed under the Military Dept (Ch. 8502, Laws).
